Ottawa International Writers Festival is a semiannual literary festival that takes place in Ottawa, Canada during the Spring and Fall of each year. Jody Royer, Book Reviewer and Sci Fi Short Story Writer, eagerly anticipates this event each and every year!

Founded in 1997
Ottawa International Writers Festival began in 1997 at Christchurch Cathedral Centre. Founded by Irish-born writer Neil Wilson, the Festival began as an opportunity to invite international writers to Canada’s literary scene. Since its inception, the event has expanded to include two events each year, hosted in the Spring and Fall. There are also various stand-alone events hosted throughout Ottawa at different times of the year.
Festival of Ideas
Ottawa International Writers Festival is known as Ottawa’s Festival of Ideas. Since 1997, the Festival has invited thousands of writers to convene, collaborate and share their stories. Traditionally, the event takes place in May (Spring) and October (Fall) of each year. Composed of numerous individual events, the Ottawa International Writers Festival ushers in a great deal of collaborative opportunities for writers, readers and creatives.
